Phil Belair focuses on landscapes inspired by the Northwoods. Phil has a Walker's Point studio location at 830 S. 5th Street in Milwaukee. (A wonderful cream city brick building built in 1883)
He has recently shown his oil paintings at R&R Galleries in Greendale, as well as shows at The Marian Center Gallery in St. Francis, The MIAD Gallery in Milwaukee, The Three Lakes Friends of the Arts Gallery near Eagle River, and the Polish Community Center in Franklin, Wisconsin. Recently, he had a landscape painting accepted into the Wisconsin Artists Biennial, 2007. (On display at the Haggerty Museum of Art at Marquette University this past Summer)
Combining his love for structure and symmetry as a professional graphic designer with his obsession with the beauty of northwoods, Phil develops painted compositions both graphically balanced and visually pleasing. He also teaches Communication Design courses full-time at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design.
“I’m inspired by the spontaneous bold strokes of Hudson River School painters like Fredrick Church as well as the illustrative detail of Philip Goodwin- brought to life on outdoor magazines of the 1930s." said Phil.
